The genuine ambience of an old rural Karoo house.
Welcome to Die Oude Pastorie, an enchanting guesthouse in the Karoo village of Nieu- Bethesda – an oasis town with running water from the mountain spring with the old “Leiwater” system still in use (running water in front of the older properties).
Die Oude Pastorie is a jewel in the Great Karoo landscape, located in a beautiful Victorian building originally built in 1847 and later becoming the Parsonage in 1878.
The Victorian Main House with beautiful gardens and a swimming pool, built to resemble a farm dam with a windmill to compliment the design. And then there is the wonderful little “Forest” – a perfect canopy of trees in which to relax and escape the hot summer of the Karoo.
Delightful and restorative.
We loved how considered and equipped the space was. Would be a great idea to add a basket of necessities and luxuries at an additional cost, considering the space is highly isolated.
5 star Karoo!
I had the pleasure of staying in Nieu-Bethesda over the last four nights. Firstly what a find this little village was! I’ve heard fantastic things about it over the years from travelers and friends but never committed to it myself. There are no words to describe the charm of this village. I spent most of my time in awe of its beauty. The most well known attraction being the Owl House is well worth a visit, but make more time to stay a few nights which is so well worth it…
Everything was quality.
